什么是价格支持？(price support?)
价格支持系统是指通过第三方的行为人为地支持、提高或操纵某一特定产品的价格。大多数情况下，涉及的第三方是政府，因为政府对某些产品和商品提供补贴，并实施监管，以确保价格不会降至某一水平以下。当存在价格支持时，自由市场资本主义体系存在一个例外，并且所讨论商品的价格不会像在真正的自由市场中那样由供求曲线决定。。
传统上，经济学家相信让市场通过对产品的需求来决定产品的价格。经济学家认为，在每一条供需曲线的某一点上，都有一个完美的交叉点，供需处于最佳水平。如果供应商提高费率，将失去客户，造成损失，如果降低费率，也将赔钱。因此，供需治愈的这一点是指在自由市场体系中商品的销售价格。。
然而，有时产品太多和/或对产品的需求不足。在私营企业和许多行业，当这种情况发生时，公司关闭。然而，有时政府希望阻止一家公司、实体或实体集团关闭，原因主要与创造就业有关。
当政府介入制定价格支持时，其目标通常是使商品的市场价格高于在自由市场体系中制定的市场价格。因此，它可能不得不通过向农民支付摧毁农作物的费用来人为地创造需求，从而减少某一特定项目的盈余。它可能还必须补贴消费者为该商品支付的高价的部分成本。
价格支持的倡导者认为帮助小企业是必要的。通常，农业中存在价格支持的概念。因此，倡导者认为，如果没有价格支持，农民将被要求以如此低的成本出售他们的商品和物品，以至于他们将无法依靠销售中的收入生存。然而，由于政府提供价格支持，规模较小的公司能够进入这一领域并维持生存。
