什么是禁令？(prohibition?)
从法律意义上讲，禁令是对某种特定活动或物质的禁止。禁令通常是为了回应对安全或道德问题的关注而规定的。有时人们在法律意义上使用这个术语来专门描述对毒品和酒精的禁令，尽管事实上任何数量的物质都可以被法律禁止。违反禁令的后果可能包括监禁、罚款和财产扣押，如果财产被用于非法活动。
政府可以在其立法机构中通过禁止性法律，个别法官可以发布禁止性命令。通过法律，法律旨在限制某种物质的供应或从事某种活动，并将违法行为定为犯罪。例如，政府可以禁止使用、种植或销售大麻，并对违反法律的人规定惩罚措施，包括罚款和监禁。通过这样的法律，往往是为了禁止危险物质或被认为没有任何赎回价值的活动。对于构成危险但也有实际应用价值的事物，政府可能会通过限制性法律，如用于分类和控制危险药物的受控物质立法。
在法院命令的情况下，禁令适用于特定的人，法官命令该人停止特定的活动。当有人向法官提出令人信服的证据时，如有迹象表明某人的行为干扰了企业的运营，就会发出法院命令。上级法院的法官也可以发出所谓的禁止令，命令下级法院停止审理不属于其管辖的案件。
在禁酒和禁药的情况下，禁令是一种商法的形式。财产法是旨在以某种形式规范消费的法律。历史上，它们被用来限制一切，从人们可以购买的布料类型到酒精的可及性。这种法律通常具有道德色彩；例如，下层阶级的人被禁止穿戴奢侈纤维，因为这被认为是道德上不合适的。
最著名的禁酒法之一是在20世纪初随着宪法修正案在美国通过的。1920年至1933年期间，酒精被禁止。尽管政府做出了最大的努力，许多美国人在禁酒令期间继续自由饮酒，一些当选的官员激烈地游说反对。最终，禁酒令在另一项修正案中被废除。
