Cut back on your mindless Twitter scrolling

I deleted Twitter from my phone, and now in my spare minutes I’m chatting with friends, I’m whittling down my inbox, I’m even reading my Instapaper. When I need to share my immaculate pearls of wisdom with the world, I just use Twitter in the browser, then close it. I still use Twitter on my desktop all day, but now I’m not also using it as my automatic second-filler.

Expand your online shopping habit

If you love something that’s overpriced—say, dresses from Anthropologie, or whatever your own fashion Achilles heel—you can buy them used for a very **all fraction of the price from Poshmark, a site I’m a little embarrassed to say I have spent so many hours on this week. Put in your size, the price you want to pay, and there goes your weekend and your paycheck. But you’ve got some new duds for the dog days. (You’ve also got a few dresses that look laughably terrible on you, but they were only $15? Someone stop me.)

Treat yourself to puppy pictures and Beyoncé tickets

My parents got a new puppy this week and now my camera roll is exclusively photos of her. Welcome to the family, Charlie! I’m also attending the Beyoncé concert tonight with a friend, so I’ll let her upgrade me.

Use an illness to kickstart healthy habits

I have spent all week battling an annoying headache, which has made it difficult to do things like: play games on my giant monitor, go bar-hopping with my friends, or have any fun. This has, however, helped out my new health goal—“Limited amounts of delicious Taco Bell”—tremendously. Sorry, nacho fries. Maybe some other time.

Find a replacement for coffee addiction

Given that there’s only so much coffee I can stomach in a day, I started giving matcha green tea a try. I bought a traditional Japanese set, bamboo whisk and all. I’m certainly no expert, but learning the ritual of whisking tea has been fun and calming. The best tip I’ve learned is to whisk back-and-forth and in a zigzag. Whisking in a circle doesn’t make that signature rich foam.

My upgrade this week is watching TV. Specifically, I finally started watching Pose, and it’s as good as everyone’s been telling me it is. Balm for the soul, and also a killer soundtrack.

Automate your most mundane purchases

I finally got Dollar Shave Club because I was tired the razor burn I get from using old razors. I can never remember to buy them, so it’s nice that they just show up.
