什么是发行价？(an offering price?)
发行价格是股票在公开市场开始交易的价格。这是由领导这一程序（即承销）的投资银行家，以及上市公司的律师和高管决定的。发行价格取决于许多因素，投资者的需求最终将决定股票从何处开始交易。
一家公司在公开股票市场的首次交易日被称为首次公开募股（IPO），尽管在此之前需要数月甚至数年的准备工作。当一家公司决定首次公开募股时，第一步是向监管该地区金融市场的监管机构提交上市文件。例如，在美国，该机构是美国证券交易委员会（Securities and Exchange Commission）。在伦敦，是金融服务管理局。
一旦文件归档，投资银行家、律师和公司高管就开始着手确定股票的公开发行价格。可能会影响这一决定的因素包括同一行业中类似股票的交易地点、上市公司的资产价值及其债务。投资银行费用是新产品总价值的额外组成部分。建立了一个交易区间，以说明新股的预期首次发行价格。
