什么是在产品？(goods in process?)
在制品，也称为在制品，是制造企业常用的库存类别。它允许公司跟踪处于某个生产阶段但尚未准备好销售的产品。该类别在公司资产负债表上作为一项资产出现，包括在生成公司财务报表时与生产相关的原材料、劳动力和制造费用的估值。
库存管理是制造企业业务运作的关键部分。通常，制造商的大部分财务资源都与库存和生产过程有关。通常，生产过程将跨越财务报告期。为了生成反映公司资产和负债状况的准确财务报告，公司必须能够识别和量化非待使用原材料或待出售成品的资产。。
制造商使用三种存货类别跟踪其资产以进行会计核算：原材料、在产品和产成品。在制品类别是一个持有账户，允许公司对生产阶段占用的资源进行估价。如果没有这个账户，公司的一部分资源将是无形的，直到资产达到成品阶段。
该账户列在公司资产负债表的资产部分。从数量上讲，该类别由使用的原材料加上在产品生产过程中所需的人工成本和间接费用组成。这些组成部分按成本或可变现价值进行估价，以较低者为准。重要的是不要以零售成本或成品成本对在产品进行估价，因为这种估价是投机性的，可能会使公司资产膨胀。在确认或收到金额之前，不得在资产负债表上假设利润。。
正确管理在制品使制造商能够在原材料上投入正确数量的财务资源，而不会超支。库存中等待加工的原材料代表公司无法用于支付其他账单的资金。该账户可用于确定存货周转率。这类信息对于使公司能够跟上客户订单而不产生库存超期或短缺至关重要。
