Injunctive relief is sometimes sought instead of monetary relief in civil suits.

禁令救济是指法院命令被告停止某一特定行为。提起禁令救济诉讼的原告将要求停止有关的具体行为。法院将评估原告的请求及其背后的原因，如果原告有合理的法律权利阻止被告，法院将发布禁令。

When any injunction is violated, the violator can be charged with contempt and face a number of legal consequences.

如果原告因被告的行为而受到金钱无法完全补偿的损害，则禁令救济或禁令是一种适当的补救措施。例如，如果原告拥有被告将要销毁的一幅稀有而有价值的油画，原告可以寻求禁令，要求法院禁止被告销毁该油画。由于这幅画重置价值的金钱赔偿不足以完全补偿原告的损失，法官可以下令强制令。

An injunction remains in place until further order of the court or until the case is decided on the merits.

Temporary restraining orders are one form of injunctive relief.

禁令可以是临时性的，也可以是永久性的。如果原告能够证明必须立即发布禁令以防止不可逆转的损害，则可以在全面审判结果出来之前发布临时禁令。原告必须证明有合法权利使被告停止不想要的行为。

永久禁令永远禁止被告采取有关的具体行动。只有在原告有明确的法律权利停止该行为的情况下，才会授予永久禁令。原告的禁令权必须与被告的自由权和诉讼自由权相权衡。此类禁令相对较少。

禁令被认为是一种公平的补救办法。违反禁令的一方可能会受到包括罚款在内的制裁。在某些情况下，违反禁令的被告也可能因违反法律命令而被判藐视法庭；这可能会引起刑事处罚。
