一束新鲜的百里香大致相当于一茶匙干百里香。当在配方中引用时，这种类型的测量通常意味着近似值。厨师可以根据自己的口味改变百里香的用量。这种草药常用于红白酱汁，也可用于慢炖牛肉、小牛肉和羊肉。百里香也是一种基础风味，用于炖牛肉、土豆和胡萝卜，可以在肉汁中煨制。
