什么是受保护的原产地名称？(a protected designation of origin?)
受保护的原产地指定（PDO）是欧洲联盟（EU）受保护地理地位制度的一部分。该框架旨在通过对某些欧洲产品的标签进行仔细立法来保护欧洲食品和饮料的完整性。当某物被授予PDO时，这意味着只有在特定地区以特定方式生产的物品才能在欧洲市场上贴上该标签。例如，香槟有PDO标签，这意味着只有在法国香槟地区以特定风格生产的起泡酒才可以被标记为“香槟”
除PDO标签外，欧盟还提供受保护的地理标志（PGI）标签和传统专业保证（TSG）标签。这些标签的使用与受保护的原产地名称略有不同，但都是为了保护欧洲特定地区，特别是农村地区特有的食品。
这一体系背后的理念是，欧洲有许多非常独特的地区食品传统。通过保护这些食品，欧盟可以确保传统的食品生产方法得到保护。政府还可以通过提供生产传统食品的经济激励来鼓励人们留在农村地区定居，并且可以通过证明带有PDO标签的食品符合基本标准来增加消费者信心。
